Frequently Asked Questions
Is telemedicine right for me?
Having spent over a decade providing services in-person and virtually, I moved to a telemedicine practice for several reasons. First, behavioral sleep medicine is effective via telemedicine. Research shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person services for brief, practical, and powerful treatments like behavioral sleep medicine. Second, it increases access to specialized sleep treatments. As a small but growing field, it can be challenging to find an adequately trained sleep professional near you. Lastly, it is convenient. Even if you live near a sleep therapist, the burden of traveling to and from the office and taking time off of work can add up.
What are your fees?
My fee is $250 per 50-minute session collected at the beginning of each session via credit card.
There is no fee for rescheduling/canceling a session by email or phone at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, a $150 late cancellation fee will be applied.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not currently take insurance. Insurance companies will vary in terms of how much of the cost they will cover with PPO plans generally covering the most per session. To facilitate reimbursement, I provide a monthly superbill (summary of treatment) that you can submit with your claim to your insurance company. Some helpful questions to ask your insurance provider prior to treatment include:
- Do I have mental health coverage?
- How many sessions per year does it cover?
- What is the reimbursement rate for an out-of-network provider?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
